Changelog

What changed on PasteKit and when, newest first. Internal refactors are left out; everything here is something you can see or use.

: Four new guides

  • How to debug JWT errors: “jwt expired”, “invalid signature”, “malformed” and audience problems, and how to find which one you have.
  • Base64 vs Base64url: the two-character difference, padding errors, and why btoa fails on Unicode.
  • CSV parsing pitfalls: quoting, regional delimiters, what Excel does to leading zeros and long numbers, and CSV formula injection.
  • Common YAML mistakes: tabs, the Norway problem, octal values, unquoted colons and anchors.

: About page, changelog and language versions

  • New changelog (this page) and a fuller About page explaining who builds PasteKit, how it is funded and how the tools are tested.
  • The German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and Korean versions translate the interface; their guides and examples are still in English, so for now only the English pages are offered to search engines.

: Link fixes and a re-run of the formatter comparison

  • Fixed internal links that pointed at moved guide pages; old addresses now redirect to the right guide.
  • Re-ran the private JSON formatter comparison against eight tools with a scripted browser and replaced the table with the measured results.

: Formatter comparison guide and browser extension

  • New guide: Private JSON Formatters Compared, which records what each tool sends over the network while formatting.
  • Browser extension 1.0.0, which pretty-prints raw JSON and XML responses and formats selected text from the right-click menu. It no longer asks for the unused “active tab” permission, and the privacy policy now covers the extension.
  • FAQ questions on tool pages are now proper headings.

: Clearer home page

  • The home page heading now says what the site does: a private online JSON, YAML and SQL formatter.

: Faster way to a format

  • Choosing a format in the home page picker now opens that format’s own page, with its options and guide.

: Launch at pastekit.dev

  • The project, first called PrettyPaste, launched as PasteKit at pastekit.dev.
  • Added JSONLint-style validation tools and a light/dark theme switch.
  • Choosing a format in the picker opens the matching page; fixed the command palette sometimes ignoring Enter.
  • Published llms.txt, a plain-language guide to every tool for AI assistants.

: First version

  • Formatters for JSON, YAML, CSV, XML, SQL, TOML, INI, .env, nginx, Apache, HCL and code in more than 20 languages, using WebAssembly builds of Prettier, Ruff, gofmt, rustfmt, clang-format and others.
  • Converters between data formats, JSON repair, diff, JSONPath and jq, table and Excel export, and share links that keep the data in the URL fragment.
  • Interface in nine languages, offline support and a published Content Security Policy that keeps pasted input in the browser.
